| 内容記述 | We evaluated the energy balance in elementary school children by examining energy intake and energy expenditure. Studies on food consumption and physical activity were done for 75 children of the 2nd or 5th grade in an elementary school of Nagano city in July, 2007. Energy intake was obtained by weighing lunch and food-recording for the other meals. Energy expenditure was calculated using physical activity record. Big individual difference was observed in both energy intake and energy expenditure. Energy balance, therefore, widely ranged from positive to negative and mean energy balance was negative. Results indicate that seasonal variation might exist in energy balance of elementary school children, suggesting that positive energy balance might be achieved in the other seasons of the year, not in the early summer season. | |||||
